Right Choice

         We all have responsibilities in this world. Responsibilities are given to us because they know we can do those responsibilities. Like us, students, we have responsibilities of being a student like making our homework and projects, respects teachers and principal, review whenever we have exams and a lot more. Sometimes, we need to sacrifice for that responsibility of us. Sometimes we really need to choose.

        Have you heard about Aeneas of the Aeneid and Hector of Iliad? Well, they just showed of making a decision of what to choose between their family and service for the country.

        Aeneas is really a great warrior according to the book. Aeneas that time was about to fight against the Greeks but Creusa, his wife, stopped him. Creusa told Aeneas not to continue the fight for the sake of her and their son Ascanius. It was really hard to choose between the responsibility of being a warrior and responsibility of being a husband and father of his family. But for Aeneas, he chose his family. I think he did a good choice. On the other hand, Hector of Illiad, also had that experienced. He needs to choose between his wife, Andromache and son, Astyanax, and his responsibility of being a warrior. But unlike Aeneas who chose his family, Hector chose his responsibility of giving service to his country. I think Hector chose that because he thinks of more people than himself and his family.

        Aeneas and Hector made good decisions. They have their own reasons of why they chose that responsibility instead of others. Creusa and Andromache prevented their husbands to stopped fighting against other group of men for the sake of their husband and son. 

The Terrible Lost of Men

        The story shows ultimate defeat and terrible lost. Aeneas who is the main character of The Aeneid involves in many wars. He is the leader of the Trojans. He sacrifices himself in order to take his responsibilities as the leader. Troy was worth fighting for.

        This book shows a lot of wars. A lot of people died because of those wars. It was like, when the other group won the battle, the other team will have their revenge towards the enemy. So, the battle between the teams was not easy to end. Because of that, a lot of lives of the people were lost. I remembered one scene in the story when Pallas fought and helped Aeneas. But unfortunately, Pallas died. So, Aeneas revenged the death of Pallas and a lot of enemies were killed by him. The story was just like that. Having revenges and avenges for their groups.

        Those scenes made Aeneid more exciting. While reading the book, it was like you really wanted to know what will happen next to the story. Even if it was too tragic, it made the book odd.

Sympathy for Aeneas

I felt pity on Aeneas. It was really hard for a person who did his best to fight for his own country but ended only with the fall of it. It was like you had big sacrifices for that thing to be able to survive. I know it was not that easy at the start but he can find ways to overcome that feeling. I felt the grief feeling of Aeneas as the Troy fell.

            The hardships of Aeneas for the survival of Troy just vanished. But of course, as a human being, we should have other things to consider and solutions to overcome that grief. When Aeneas will leave and will just find Rome, I didn’t change my feeling towards him. It was just his decision to be able to survive with his men and continue fighting. But at the other side of my heart, there was this mad feeling towards him. After all his hardships in Troy, he will just leave it after it falls? I think he just think of himself. He should be with the Trojans even if it falls.

            Aeneas had his revenge for the fall of Troy. I know that Aeneas just did his responsibilities to help his own place. He thinks of other people more than himself in fighting.
